National Grid Sandy Pond HVDC Terminal Tour

When: Sat, July 16th 11 to 1pm
Where: Sandy pond HVDC terminal in Ayer MA.

# of people: Due to the security and size constraints at the facility, there will be a limited number of people we are able to accommodate for the tour and presentation. The signup will be a first come/first serve, with a max of 30 people.

General info: Sandy pond is currently the worlds only Multi-terminal High Voltage Direct Current link. The 450kV DC line which goes over 900 miles up to the St James Bay area can carry up to 2000MW of Hydro generated electricity down into the New England area. The converter station which is capable of supplying around 10% of the area's electrical needs has been in operation for over 20 years.
